Valentine Tunnel Card

Hello everyone!

I am back at long last with a new project.  It's a simple little tunnel book that could be used as a Valentine Day card.

I used Graphic 45 Mon Amour Ephemera Cards and a few sheets from the coordinating 6x6 paper pad.

I also tried out a product I had not used before -Sizzix Paper Leather - to use as the flexible binding to join the front and back covers.

The image on the front is a magnetic closure which holds the gatefold cover closed.

The tunnel consists of three panels.  Each panel is one of the 4x6 Ephemera cards.

The magnetic closure can wrap around to the back so the card can stand easily in the open position.

The front panel has flowers.

I cut around the roses, leaving off some of the tiny flowers with thin stems.

The border was not quite wide enough, so I cut an additional frame from a piece of 6x6 paper so that I could increase the width to slightly over 3/8".

The middle panel has the couple.

I left a border around the edge which was a little over 3/8".

I also strengthened the frame for this panel by cutting a piece of 6x6 paper to match the frame width.

The back panel has the sentiment.

It consists of a frame fussy cut from one of the 4x6 cards and a sentiment cut from another card.

I fussy cut a frame to add a border to the sentiment from one of the 3x4 cards.

The sentiment is popped up with some thin pop-up dots,

The tunnel goes together with a pleated piece of pattern paper on each side which joins the three panels.

The book has a chipboard back and two front chipboard pieces that come together to make a gatefold opening.

The front and back are joined by Sizzix paper leather .

It was easy to emboss the paper leather, and it works quite well as the flexible binding needed for this project.

After embossing, I colored the paper leather with Distress ink.

There was room on the back to add a pocket and one of the 3x4 Ephemera cards to express a personal Valentines greeting.

This tunnel card went together very quickly by using the Ephemera cards.  Since many of the newer Graphic 45 collections include these cards, similar tunnel books could be made in different themes.

Here's a video which includes the completed project as well as the construction of the project.
