Shave and a Haircut - 2 Bits

Several weeks ago, when watching one of Laura Denison's UStream shows, someone mentioned that a Barber Shop would make a great addition to her Maple Street series.  I thought that sounded like a fun idea so I decided to give it a go.

It's a skinny building and the window tower is a riff on the windows from the Couture Dress Shop.  I wanted the downstairs to look like the shop, with an apartment above.

Most of the paper is from Graphic 45's "Good Ol' Sport" paper collection, although I did find a couple of images in G45's "Ladies Diary".

I printed out the letters for the "Barber Shop" on my computer.

I found the miniature toiletries online and although they were a bit pricey I think they added just the right touch.

The barber pole is made from striped paper from "Good Ol' Sport" shaped into a cylinder.

Some little wood pieces and a ball on top completed the pole.

In the upstairs windows I pleated paper to look like window shades.

In the bay window I added a sleeping cat and a couple of potted flowers.
