Book Cloth

Book Cloth is a combination of fabric and paper that makes a very nice covering for a book.  The fabric gives the cover flexibility and the paper provides a very nice gluing surface.

Supplies needed:
  • Fabric (sized at least 2 inches larger in each direction of the board you wish to cover, or the combination of the two covers and the spine)
  • Fusible web (slightly smaller than fabric)
  • Rice paper (slightly larger than fabric)

Creating/printing large decorative tags using MS Word

Sometimes it's nice to be able to create custom tags - any size, any font, any color - and print them on whatever size paper you would like to use.  The following video shows how to create a custom tag on a piece of 6" x 6" decorative paper using MS Word 2010.  The technique uses tables in Word and hopefully explains the technique welkl enough so that even those unfamiliar with table formatting will be able to achieve the desired results.

WARNING:  This technique utilizes tape to attach a smaller piece of paper to a "carrier" page.  Do not try this technique unless you are comfortable doing so with your printer.  Not all printers are created equal.  If in doubt, cut a piece of decorative paper to 8 1/2" x 11" and print using that full size sheet.
